The Inca ritual

I also had the opportunity to witness and participate in an Inca ritual. The place where I am volunteering now is very unique. In itself it is just a campsite, however it is placed a short distance from some Inca ruins and the scenery is fantastic. Right in front of ai is Machu Picchu and then it is surrounded by 8 snow-capped mountains that are quite impressive in height.


The owner of this place is an Inca shaman. I didn't really understand for what reason, but one night he decided to do this ritual and make us participate. We all sat around the fire, ate leaves of I don't know exactly what and drank a substance that I don't know what it was. I'm still alive, though, so it's okay. We all are, so don't worry. The ritual then continued with prayers and substances thrown into the fire for the purpose of purification. We then took a trio of leaves and placed them in front of our mouths to recite, repeating after the shaman, prayers especially to the Most Holy Mother Earth. We then finished the ceremony with stories and legends regarding these places.


It was a beautiful moment that touched me. I think it's not even a matter of understanding all the words or all the symbols, what was interesting, at least for me, is that I felt something inside. I wouldn't even know exactly what, however, it was intense. At the end of the ceremony we all stood in silence around the fire. I think something came over everyone and they needed to metabolize it. Personally, I felt good and just stood there and stared at the fire without any thoughts in my head.


I think being able to learn about and participate in something like that is a great cultural and spiritual enrichment.

Ho anche avuto l'occasione di assistere e partecipare ad un rituale Inca. Il posto dove sto facendo volontariato ora è molto particolare. Di per sé è solo un camping, però è posto a poca distanza da delle rovine Inca e il paesaggio è fantastico. Proprio di fronte ai trova Machu Picchu e poi è circondato da 8 montagne innevate che hanno un'altezza abbastanza impressionante. 

Il proprietario di questo posto è uno sciamano Inca. Non ho capito bene per quale ragione, ma una sera ha deciso di fare questo rituale e di renderci partecipi. Ci siamo seduti tutti intorno al fuoco, abbiamo mangiato foglie di non so esattamente cosa e bevuto una sostanza che non so cosa fosse. Però sono ancora vivo, quindi va bene. Lo siamo tutti, quindi non preoccupatevi. Il rituale è poi proseguito con preghiere e sostanze buttate nel fuoco con lo scopo di purificare. Abbiamo poi preso un trio di foglie e le abbiamo messe davanti alla bocca per recitare, ripetendo dopo lo sciamano, preghiere soprattutto alla Santissima Madre Terra. Per poi finire la cerimonia con storie e leggende riguardanti questi luoghi.

È stato un momento bello, che mi ha toccato. Penso che non si tratti neanche di capire tutte le parole o tutti i simboli, quello che è stato interessante, quanto meno per me, è che ho sentito qualcosa dentro di me. Non saprei neanche esattamente che cosa, però è stato intenso. Alla fine della cerimonia siamo rimasti tutti in silenzio intorno al fuoco. Penso che ad ognuno sia arrivato qualcosa e ha avuto bisogno di metabolizzarlo. Personalmente mi sono sentito bene e sono semplicemente rimasto lì a fissare il fuoco senza alcun pensiero per la testa.

Credo riuscire a conoscere e partecipare a qualcosa del genere, sia un grande arricchimento culturale e spirituale.
